Public Event

The UWA Defence and Security Institute invites you to attend an In Conversation public event featuring Ukraine’s newly installed Ambassador to Australia His Excellency Vasyl Myroshnychenko.

Ambassador Myroshnychenko joined Ukraine’s foreign service after two decades helping international clients develop solid relationships with the stakeholders in the government, civil society and local community in Ukraine. Ambassador Myroshnychenko is focussed on enhancing Ukraine-Australia bilateral relations through military cooperation, trade and investment, culture, education and tourism.

Ambassador Myroshnychenko will discuss his reflections on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the reaction of the international community, and Australia-Ukraine relations.

While this event will inevitably have considerable focus on the current situation in Ukraine, Ambassador Myroshnychenko is also interested in exploring how Western Australia and Ukraine might work together more closely in a post-war reconstruction phase, and over the long term through increased bilateral trade and investment.

This public event will take place in the theatre-auditorium located at The University Club of Western Australia. Please register as places are limited.

Former Defence Minister Stephen Smith will provide opening remarks and invite our expert panellists to the stage for a moderated discussion on the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal and technology sharing arrangement, AUSMIN ministerial consultations and first ever in-person Quad Leaders’ Summit.
