Roundtable discussion with Ambassadors Bruce Edwards & Vasyl Myroshnychenko
The UWA Defence and Security Institute invites you to attend a private Roundtable Lunch discussion with the Australian Ambassador to Ukraine, Bruce Edwards, and the Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko.
Ambassador Edwards is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has previously served overseas as Deputy Head of Mission in Port of Spain and Beirut, as well as postings in Kyiv and Kabul.
Ambassador Edwards holds a Master of Journalism from the University of Queensland; a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts from Melbourne University; a Graduate Diploma (Hons) in Antarctic and Southern Ocean Studies from the University of Tasmania; and a Graduate Certificate of Humanitarian Leadership from Deakin University.
Ambassador Myroshnychenko holds a MSc in Politics of the World Economy from the London School of Economics. He joined Ukraine’s foreign service after two decades helping international clients develop solid relationships with the stakeholders in the government, civil society and local community in Ukraine. Ambassador Myroshnychenko is focussed on enhancing Ukraine-Australia bilateral relations through military cooperation, trade and investment, culture, education and tourism.
Ambassador Edwards and Ambassador Myroshnychenko will provide their reflections on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the reaction of the international community, and Australia-Ukraine relations.
The discussion will also explore how Western Australia and Ukraine might work together more closely in a post-war reconstruction phase, and over the long term through increased bilateral trade and investment.
This event is an invitation only, lunch meeting in the private dining room, The University Club of Western Australia.
This discussion will be moderated by Professor Stephen Smith.
