Roundtable Lunch Discussion with Reinhard Bütikofer
The UWA Defence and Security Institute invites you to attend a private roundtable lunch discussion with Mr Reinhard Bütikofer, a Member of the European Parliament for the German Green party. Mr Bütikofer is travelling to Perth, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne as a guest of the Australian Government’s Special Visits Program. This program brings to Australia individuals who can contribute to a greater understanding of Australia’s policies and institutions in their home countries.
Mr Bütikofer sits on the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), where he serves as Greens/EFA foreign affairs spokesperson, and on the Committee on International Trade (INTA) as a substitute member. He is the Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the People’s Republic of China as well as a member of the Delegation to the United States and a substitute member of the ASEAN Delegation.
A key objective of the event is to share Australian perspectives on China, Southeast Asia, and the Indo-Pacific. Discussion will focus on:
- Implications of Russia’s war in Ukraine for the Indo-Pacific region
